'Ohonua, 'Eua Tonga (02nd March 2023) — Tonga Power Limited (TPL) has commissioned a new solar and battery energy storage system in Eua, Tonga, with the financial support of the Government of Australia and the Asian Development Bank.

It utilizes an Elecod 50kW/100kWh energy storage system (on/off grid) to store surplus solar power generated during the day and supply it to the hotel at night, ensuring 24-hour continuous operation. During cloudy or rainy days, the system works in conjunction with a diesel generator.
